This dataset is the result of DNA extraction, PCR amplification of 16S rDNA and DGGE (Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis) analysis of cores taken at BCS stations 115 and 330 during spring and autumn of 2003. The objective of this dataset was to evaluate possible changes in bacterial communities in relation to changing food availability.

Samples The cores for the study of variation in the biodiversity of the bacterial community were taken to the laboratory closed, preserving that way the overlaying water. In a bench flow cores with were taken in each sampling site, using a piston-style core with a 3.57 cm inner diameter. The top first centimetre of sediment was taken and split into two 2ml ependorfs for further DNA extraction.
