This thesis investigates if sustainable tourism development in Gazi is possible. The reason for this research is the oyster culture in Gazi. This projects is framed within the Kenya – Belgium Project in marine sciences that started in 1985. My task is to investigate whether a tourism development, coupled to oyster culture offers any opportunities. This research project was mainly focused on the possibilities, effects, positive and negative, that tourism could bring along in the socio-cultural, economic and physical areas. |
