Abstract
The report was set up to investigate the effects of bottom trawl gear om benthic invertebrates and fish. Trawling programmes were carried out in four main areas of the North Sea with 4-m and 12-m beam trawls. Several examinations in relation to equipment, fishing, meshes of the net, immigration of scavengers into intensively trawled areas, changes in sediment structure, the effects of towing speed and direction of tow on the pressure exerted by the gear on the sediment were taken.
