Abstract
Some descriptive notes on the spp of Ctenophora occurring in the North Atlantic and the coastal water of NW Europe are presented. These spp are Pleurobrachia pileus, Mertensia ovum, Bolinopsis infundibulum, Beroe gracilis, B. Cucumis. Their geographic distributions are presented. Some references to works on their biology are listed according to the following categories: (a) Distribution, (b) Physiology, biochemistry and fine structure, (c) Reproduction and development, (d) Food and feeding behaviour, (e) Predators and parasites, (f) Effect on plankton and fisheries.
